Station Keeping Simulation

A moored ship in drifting ice can be simulated in SAMS. Aside from the overall loading history, the track of the ship can be illustrated.

The so-called ice-vaning is automatically simulated.

A station keeping scenario is simulated with the following active components:

  1. Influence from shorelines;
  2. Ocean current and wind.
The change in color in the following images illustrate the pressure build up with increasing wind speed or ocean current. The progression from white to green, yellow and eventually red illustrate an increase in pressure on the ice floes.
