Validations

Over the past years, a rich database has been accumulated, including laboratory and field tests data. Most employees of ArcISo AS were directly involved or in charge of the relevant experiments. In the course of developing SAMS, many validations have been carried out to test all the functionalities of SAMS. A few examples can be found below:

Multi-body Dynamics

For this test:
  • There is no fracture in ice;
  • Paraffin was used to model the rigid ice bodies;
  • Rigid body motion was captured.
The test data can be used to validate the multi-body dynamics module of SAMS.

Multi-leg Structure in a Multi-body Ice Environment

Fixed Structure

The test data can be used to validate fixed structure interacting with level ice.

Moored Structure

The test data can be used to validate moored structures interacting with level ice.

Algorithm Validation

The test data can be used to validate the implementation of newly developed algorithm's implementation in SAMS.

Transit in Broken Ice

The test data can be used to validate a ship-shaped structure's transit in broken ice conditions simulated by SAMS.
